These are a couple of things you can do once your SEO services business starts to get a little bit bigger. For our Philippines staff, we’ve now got a team leader over there. So our team leader is someone that our other assistants can now check in with. So if for some reason, like brown outs or they couldn’t get through to us, or our project manager was sick and I wasn’t in the office, they’ve still got someone else who they can check in with.
We get messages from one assistant all the time and she says, Franz can’t hop online because he was down at the hospital or he had to pick up his kids or something like that and he wasn’t able to communicate with us. So it’s a good idea, and we’re training her up now to start talking and doing the Start Of Days, the SODs. We’re training her to be a little project manager. There’ll be a time where she’ll take over what our project manager in the office is doing and there’ll be a time where he starts to work with project managers. Then each project manager has people underneath them. This is just throwing the material out there, letting it sink in as to what can happen over time.
There’s myself, my project manager and now my assistant in my SEO company and and we’ve got her doing regular communication with them. She is the one training these other assistants and helping them learn the ropes on how we run the business. She knows how to do everything now, as she implements these all the time when someone new hops on board. It’s important that she goes through all of those stages of developing the new staff to do her task. She’s the main point of call in my virtual office.
You have to keep in mind that worker retention is a big issue in this work setup. It is also something that you need to work on. I can say that I am really good at worker retention for people over in the Philippines and offshore. Just bear in mind that it takes someone at least six months before they can really be familiar with the job and fully understand it. What I do is I invest a lot into my staff and I do a lot of training for them, so they can be ready to help you in growing your business as much as possible. I don’t want to train them up and then have them go somewhere else after spending much time to improve on their skills.
Basically I tell them that I will support and provide them things that they need to improve on their skills. I tell them that I will do whatever I can to help them work at their best. That’s how I keep my guys nowadays. I also offer deals to help them on their projects outside of Melbourne SEO, and that proves how we can get them more involved in working for me while helping them grow.
As for your Philippines staff, I pay them more and do bonuses from time to time. If someone else requires a new computer something like that, I might go and make a deal about it, as this greatly helps them do these assigned tasks well. There are several different things that you can do to show some support as well and they will value that opportunity. Do this to your staff, show them how much value they add to the business and you will get the same loyalty in return.
Make sure to provide time for feedback and coaching as well. That’s how you keep in touch with your staff because you know what they are feeling and you do not just let things go by without asking them about these concerns. I see to it that I have regular communication with them and let them know that they are free to tell me their thoughts about their work. You can surely keep your workers happy that way.
Most of your focus, should be to get things organized as much as you can. This is your role as the CEO, you must be sure that you have the right people working for you and keep these people loyal to your company.
