SEO Made Simple (Second Edition): Strategies For Dominating The World’s Largest Search Engine
There really are no hard and fast search engine optimization tips when it comes to keyword research for any online business. You will just get better at it over time. It varies from market to market. Consider comparing the mortgage industry to mating habits of mosquitoes in Ethiopia. They are worlds apart obviously. You cannot go for the same volume of keywords in that very small niche compared to something big like the mortgages.
The keyword research I do depends on the clients our SEO company works with. Generally, the first primary keyword I will use for site optimization should at least garner more than 5000 searches in the Google free keyword search tool page.
These aren’t magic numbers, they are just guides. That’s not so much competition, that’s how many searches. I usually do the broad terms. I only do the phrases when I’m looking at the competition. Depending on what the keywords are, sometimes you’ll pick up variations. For example I’ll go after band merch and sometimes I’ll get merch and band as well. It’s probably not a good example of swapping it around, but there are a lot of keywords where it doesn’t really matter if you swap that syntax or that order around. It’s going to be useful searches.
Over 2000 searches should be under the second tier category. In here, I prefer competitive keywords if not more competitive than the noted major primary phrase. The primary money phrase is looking for that balance between, yes, I think it is going to convert really highly, and yes there is also large volume of searches. This shows why having higher searches would not mean a lot in this second tier. Spot important variations. Always for the things that can be achieved easily while you scout for the competitive things too. Of course, these depend on the clients you have. As part of my search engine optimization tips, always look for trouble-free wins for you to create the much-needed momentum. Money gained here can fund other SEO services like link building to name one of them.
Around fifty searches is what I ought to see for the longer tail things found in the third tier. There are times when your searches would not produce any match especially if you will be going for the local markets or Google places. I mean if you’re going for dentist South Yarra or dentists Greensborough, dentist Greensborough is probably not going to come up with many searches. That is not to say I don’t go after it. Given a much higher rate, a few extra users or a little extra traffic is going to convert in the local market.
As we do the search engine optimization tips earlier noted, increased traffic may have dawned the dentist’s website even the numbers showing here are low. Twenty or thirty people more for a small business per day is relatively high when it comes to their conversion rate – whole buying phrase against broad match.
